I pray for God to take control over my life, but when it comes time to actually give up control I have a hard time letting go and turning everything over to God. Sometimes I think God doesn't really care about this decision or that decision, so I can just do whatever I want. Then when things don't work out for me the way I thought they would I get upset and depressed and wonder why. It's because I ignored God and went my own way. Giving God complete control is difficult for me. Some days I don't even think about it because I'm so wrapped up in my daily routines. I have to learn not to fight and struggle against things that are beyond me and just turn them over to God.

Comment on The Memos

Hit the nail on the head...VERY poor decision on his part. Let's see if this new "transparency" goes both directions. It won't, and in certain cases, it shouldn't.

Comment on The State of the Union Address

Dear Tim,
This is Joshua Reding and I just wanted to say excellent job on the blog. It is an absolute joy to read, and it helps to keep me up to date on some things that I know I should be watching, but the rigors of college life have caused me to miss. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you and excellent analysis on President Obama's speech. I felt the same way after watching his inaugeral speech and this speech did little to assuage my fears. Thanks again, and God Bless.

Comment on The State of the Union Address

I cannot understand what makes a politician or our president believe that they can run our country like a business. They appear to run headlong at an issue without determining the root cause of the problem. Their idea is to throw enough money at the problem it will go away. It appears that none of our elect have even gone beyond SixSigma white belt training or educated themselves in RCA (Root Cause analysis). It is not rocket science. The unemployed cannot contribute to the economy, they cannot purchase or invest, they had dreams with good intentions to succeed only to have their means erased. We cannot borrow ourselves out of debt Mr. President giving out money is not the answer. I will admit I agreed with the president with regards to the role education must play in America if we are to survive, but what awaits our graduates if corporate America relocates jobs away from our own citizens. Let's provide incentives to corporate America to keep jobs in the US.

Comment on Who Is In Charge

Thanks, it is good to be reminded of this. It's so easy to forget....and we need to be reminded that He NEVER fails! We just need to believe in Him and remain true to Him. Praise God! He is my strength and shield, whose love for us never ends!

Comment on Radical Politics

I really appreciate this blog today. I have heard some pretty astonishing comments come from the mouths of "Christians" concerning President Obama. I am not talking about informed differences of opinion. I am talking about ignorant slander and bigotry having nothing to do with political views. I urge all of us to pay attention and participate in our government. President Obama has my prayers and respect but not my agreement in all things. I believe that God has placed him in the presidency for His purposes. Even if it looks frightening to us. I am still proud and grateful to be an American. I will still serve as Christ served not because it seems fashionable but because our Lord commanded it first. There is nothing new under the sun - nothing.

Comment on Because

Dear Tim,
I am a couple days behind on your blog posts, but I was reading the one entitled Because from the 14th of January, and I must say that your timing is impeccable. On that day I went in to test for asthma to determine whether or not I had it. This is significant because if I was diagnosed with having asthma, then I would be unable to serve in our nation's armed forces. It was a situation the was completely and totally out of my control and I had to trust God completely. Today, I was blessed enough to discover that my test results came back negative, and thus launching me into a career in the Air Force. In the two day waiting period however I forced myself to accept whatever God's judgment on this matter would me knowing that if he did not want me in the military and needed me elsewhere that I would be denied. In conclusion, I just want to say excellent work and I'm glad your back. God bless

Comment on Back Again

Great to have you back again! I know we don't let you know how much your daily message means to us, but when they don't show up for awhile, they are dearly missed. With this in mind, it is a good thing for you to take a break every once in a while and remind us what a blessing you are to our daily lives. Welcome back! And, thanks for the encouraging words about who is really in control and that despite all the turmoil and chaos swirling around us, it is always good to be reminded that God still has the train on the tracks and his hand is on the controls. May God bless you & Pam; all the kids & grandkids; your parishoners; and your ministry above and beyond anything you have imagined in 2009! We love you!

Comment on For Others

Tim,
Your are a blessing to me and my family! I can tell you with no uncertain terms that you bring joy to me and my household all the time. To me personally, every time I read your daily blog, you evoke a response. Usually, your thoughts bring a big smile to my face and my mind wanders to the many wonderful pleasant memories we have shared over the years. I know that at least two of my kids read your blog too, as they reflect on your words during our phone calls. This is extremely important to me, as they are alone and away from home. So, do not be disappointed if no one is taking the time to respond. Your words are gold and they are a blessing to more than you will ever know. Be encouraged, my friend, you are doing the Lord's work and one day He will reveal the numbers of lives you have touched...and say "well done good and faithful servant..." We love you dearly!!! Stay the Course!

Comment on Election 2008

Tim,
Thank you for these wise words and thoughts.
