Geography

Quick Take – So, where are you today?  Are you in Jerusalem, Samaria, Judea, or the remotest part of the world?  I’ll bet you think this is a strange question, but it is critical for you to know where you are in relationship to your responsibilities to Christ.  Whether you are at home, close to home, or very far away, you are to be a witness for Christ.  It does not matter if you are traveling or at your usual office, you have a witness for Christ to maintain either verbally or non-verbally.  People all around you, everywhere you go, need Christ.  Just because you are at work does not mean you can set this aside.  You have to know the proximity you have in regards to the gospel and the world.

but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."   Acts 1:8 (NASB)

And remember – Jesus wins,
Tim

Digging Deeper – I was watching the highlights of a major league baseball game last night and saw a great double play.  The bases were loaded and the batter hit a grounder to the infield.   The force was at any bag, but the play was at home.  The ball was thrown to the catcher who got the out at the plate.  Then, the catcher threw the ball to first because that was the best chance of beating the runner since it was the batter and he did not have a lead off like the runners on first and second.  The catcher made the throw to first and got the out.
This was so fun to watch because I have been watching my grandson play ball all summer.  He is in the third grade and it is sometimes frustrating.  They will field a grounder and watch a runner go right by them instead of tagging them out.  They have no idea where the play is no matter how much the coach yells out to them.  They just can’t get the big picture of the game in their head yet.
This to me is like many believers.  They just cannot get the big picture in their head.  They are letting the lost go right by them all day long while they have the ball in their hand.  They get so distracted with everything else that they cannot think what they should be doing in order to win the game.  They have not gotten the concept of the game down and they are not taking the responsibility of looking at the playing field and asking themselves where the play is.
Jesus said in Acts that we had to be out there and aware of what was going on.  We need to know where our Jerusalem is and stand for Christ there.  We need to know that even if we go away from that point, we still need to be His witness.  We need to know our proximity to the Gospel all the time and be ready to make the play and proclaim Christ.  People are watching us constantly and want to know if our life is any different.
Do you even know that the ball is in your hand right now?  Do you see the people running by you all day long needing salvation?  Are you distracted by all the things of this world or do you realize you are in a game with eternal consequences?  Don’t just stand there today wondering what to do with this Gospel in your hand – reach out and touch someone with it.
Blessings, and thanks for digging deeper with me!
